About Clare

With a background in criminal justice reform and involved in regional politics, alternative dispute resolution models are a sustained area of interest for Councilmember Killman. Clare works as a mediator in Illinois' First Judicial Circuit, providing program coordination and mediation services to our First Circuit Family Mediation Program, our statewide Illinois Agricultural Mediation Program, and our Southern Illinois-focused Community Mediation Program. She also currently serves on the board of the Golden Rainbows of Southern Illinois, the Citizen's Advisory Board for the Jackson County State's Attorney, and the Ambassador Committee for the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce.

Clare is recognized as a champion of marginalized communities throughout Illinois, drafting the human rights title in Carbondale's ordinance and having it passed with unanimous consent, and as a peace activist- successfully drafting a resolution to call for the peaceful end to all violent conflict. A Southeast Missouri native who moved to Southern Illinois 12 years ago, she is also a public policy student at the University of Springfield.
