Economic Vitality Coordinator, Village of Skokie, IL
The Village of Skokie, IL is seeking qualified candidates for the position of full-time Economic Vitality Coordinator, working in the Community Development Dept.
As a key member of the Economic Vitality Division team, The Economic Vitality Coordinator will plan and implement programs related to economic vitality, assist in business retention and attraction efforts, create and maintain special financing districts, and assist in commercial area redevelopment and other short and long-term economic planning efforts. Staff in the Economic Vitality Division serve as liaisons between the Village and the business community.
Description of Duties
You will conduct on-site business visits; assess growth potential, stagnation or downsizing, and build a continual data base on local businesses as part of the Business Retention Program; Assist Economic Vitality Manager with the study of economic development issues and implementation of programs; Assist in the administration of tax increment finance (TIF) districts, special service areas (SSA), and other financial and technical incentive programs; Promote and coordinate the Village’s economic incentive programs that include, but are not limited to, tax increment financing, storefront enhancement program, the Village’s review process for Cook County incentive programs such as 6B, 7A, and 7B assessments; Performs other work-related duties, as assigned.
Required Training and Knowledge

About the Role

The ideal candidate is an experienced project manager and relationship-builder who can manage complex initiatives involving multiple partners, consultants, timelines, and political dynamics. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day implementation of a multi-partner bike infrastructure and advocacy initiative in Chicago
- Coordinate infrastructure-related work across PeopleForBikes and partner organizations to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, deliverables, and strategy
- Track progress across strategic priorities and maintain project plans, timelines, budgets, and reporting systems
- Organize and facilitate coalition meetings, partner coordination calls, and strategic planning sessions while taking notes and preparing agendas and other meeting materials
- Manage project budgets, invoices, contracts, and grant-related reporting
requirements - Oversee contractors and consultants providing specialized services, including but not limited to communications, PR, research, advocacy, and design support
- Support advocacy and education campaigns related to bike infrastructure funding, safer streets policies, and priority network expansion projects in Chicago and other communities that PeopleForBikes is engaged with as needed. While Chicago will be the primary focus, the Project Manager may occasionally support related infrastructure initiatives in other communities.
- Support and attend stakeholder meetings, community engagement events, workshops, public meetings, and community bike rides
- Monitor policy, funding, and political developments in Chicago and Springfield relevant to the initiative’s goals and report developments back to PeopleForBikes
- Support and coordinate deliverables, including but not limited to presentations, memos, briefing materials, and reports
- Support needs around rapid-response communications and stakeholder outreach around high-profile bike infrastructure projects and policy issues
- Prepare regular progress updates for PeopleForBikes’ donors, funders, coalition partners, and leadership team
- Maintain strong relationships with community organizations, advocates, public agencies, and other stakeholders in and around Chicago
- Coordinate the delivery of PeopleForBikes tools, data, and technical resources to local governments, advocates, industry partners, and community organizations to create better bike infrastructure and get more people riding bikes more often.
- Collaborate with PeopleForBikes’ teams to ensure alignment of goals and strategies toward PeopleForBikes’ vision around infrastructure — especially our policy, government relations, and City Ratings teams.
- Set up meetings, develop agendas, take notes, and send reminders and follow-up communications for project meetings.

Compensation and Benefits
This “at-will” position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. This is a full-time temporary position with an annual salary range of $70,000–$85,000, depending on experience and qualifications, plus benefits. City Planner, City of West Chicago, IL
Description
Plans, organizes, and implements development programs and activities including long and short range planning, zoning, and other applicable codes and plans on behalf of Community Development Department and the Director of Community Development.
It is anticipated that the hiring range for this position will be between $79,899 and $87,000 (DOQ) and consistent with the City Compensation Plan and Policy
Essential Functions of this Position - (Generally up to 60% of the time annually)
- Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs; recommend, within departmental policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; recommend and administer policies and procedures.
- Review development proposals and land use applications including site plans, subdivisions, zoning requests, and sign permits for compliance with city regulations, including the Zoning Code and Subdivision Regulations Code, and other planning objectives.
- Meet with and assist developers, architects, engineers, attorneys, businesses, and property owners to discuss proposed development projects, zoning compliance, and other regulatory requirements.
- Guide applicants through the zoning entitlement and development review process from pre-application through final approval.
- Prepare staff reports, agendas, correspondence, recommendations, supporting documentation, and public presentations related to development proposals and planning cases for the City Council, Committees, Commissions, and the general public.
- Attend meetings and provides professional planning support to the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals and other assigned Boards or Commissions.
- Assist in the preparation of sub-area plans, comprehensive plan updates, and amendments to the Zoning Code, and City Code.
- Manage the interdepartmental review process for development applications to ensure efficient and consistent evaluation.
- Respond to inquiries from residents, businesses, and outside organizations regarding zoning, development standards, land use regulations, and city procedures.
- Present planning analyses and recommendations at public meetings and hearings.
- Maintain accurate planning records, reports, and development files in accordance with city policies and retention requirements.
- Evaluate existing policies and procedures and recommend new approaches, ordinances, or updates to support planning initiatives and City Council objectives.
- Collect, compile, analyze and interpret planning data; prepare reports and related documentation of findings and present to the appropriate boards, commission or superiors.
- Update existing land use and development files and maps with changes while analyzing the implications of these changes.
- Ensure compliance with the City’s Zoning Code, Subdivision Regulations Code, and stormwater ordinances. Assist the Director of Community Development in reviewing, administering and updating all of the City zoning related land use regulations including the Zoning Code and the Subdivision Regulations Code.
- Coordinate relevant planning and development activities with other City departments and with outside agencies as required. Recommends goals and objectives; assists in the development of and implements policies and procedures.
- Use and maintain planning data for GIS as it relates to planning and physical development.
- Coordinate the preparation and revision of the handouts for developers and citizens outlining and explaining the City’s development process and requirements. Participate in the departmental review of building permit applications for compliance with applicable zoning, sign, and fence codes.
Essential Functions of this Position - (Generally up to 30% of the annually)
- Prepare ordinances, resolutions and reports for City Council consideration.
- Assist in the development and administration of the Community Development Department budget; forecast additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor of and recommend approval of expenditures.

Metro Strategies Group is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator or Manager to support complex public-sector consulting projects. This role is ideal for a skilled project coordinator or administrator who excels at keeping multi-stakeholder efforts organized, on schedule and aligned with client and contract requirements. The successful candidate will coordinate cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholder groups, manage project communications and meetings, track deliverables and action items to help keep initiatives moving forward. This role requires a high degree of professionalism, organization and judgment, along with experience working across multidisciplinary teams and departments. Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Delivery Support
- Support project and program leadership in coordinating mid- to large-scale planning and
programming initiatives. - Coordinate and support meetings involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams, including scheduling, agenda development, materials preparation, note-taking and follow-up.
- Track project action items, next steps, deadlines and deliverables; proactively follow up with internal and external teams to ensure progress and accountability.

Stakeholder & Client Coordination

- Maintain organized, accurate project records, including schedules, correspondence, meeting documentation and status reports.
- Support quality control efforts by reviewing documents for consistency, completeness and
accuracy. - Apply and help refine project coordination best practices, templates and workflows.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of coordination processes across projects and teams.
Qualifications & Competencies
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in project coordination or project support within professional
services, consulting, planning, engineering or public-sector environments. - Demonstrated experience coordinating projects with multiple stakeholders, departments or
disciplines. - Strong organizational and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools and strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain clear, accurate documentation.

Salary
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
