In Memoriam: Kenda Lundgren (1943 - 2020)
(1943 – 2020) TOWSON, Maryland Sweet lovely Kenda passed away peacefully at home on September 6 at 77 years of age, succumbing to the ravages of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). She graduated from Blue River High School, briefly studied at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, and attended Delaware County Community College and Northwestern University. Kenda and her husband Mark Lundgren, AICP moved to Towson, MD in 2020 to be near their son and family.
While Kenda Lundgren did not study planning in college, she embraced all of the planning principles embraced by APA and the stalwarts of planning theory. She was an active APA member, having participated in APA National Conferences each year since the 1990’s. Kenda was a member of the Private Practice Division of APA, as well as the APA-CMS. She thoroughly enjoyed participating in the “Tuesdays at APA” in Chicago, as well as seminars sponsored by the APA-CMS Chapter. She was an active supporter of the seminars that her husband, Mark Lundgren, AICP, had organized and moderated. Kenda with Mark had co-founded their consulting firm, Land Pointer, Ltd in 2009. She was an active participant in the Chicago 46th Ward Transportation Planning Committee that formed a portion of the Ward Master Plan, and she was a long time member of the East Lake View Neighbors Association, supporting numerous community planning and development efforts.
