11/6/24 - Wildlife-First Urban Design – Tour of Chicago’s Wild Mile + Social
Learn how this unique sustainable urban space went from a big idea to reality. Urban Rivers, the organization behind the maintenance and the expansion of the Wild Mile, works closely with planners, scientists, businesses and community members. We’ll talk about how putting wildlife first has transformed the ecological diversity of the Chicago River and created a unique urban park. The ensuing discussion will include information about the North Branch and Wild Mile Chicago Framework Plans, key early and ongoing partnerships, permitting requirements and processes, funding, and plans for the future.
This is a family-friendly event, so feel free to bring future planners!
